2020 WRESTLING NEWS

Schoolboy’s State Championships (19th September)

On the 19th September, Vlad took part in the 2010 Victorian schoolboy’s wrestling championships. Vlad won the state title now 2nd year in the row. Vlad’s shown great improvement in his technical side of wrestling being more offensive in taking more opportunities to score. In the 1st round Vlad won 3:0 and in the 2nd round Vlad was losing 0:3 and came back to win the match 6:3. Well done Vlad!
Vlad also had an opportunity to wrestle with another wrestler in the division above him. Vlad was overpowered by his opponent and lost his match by pin in the 1st round. Well done Vlad for doing your best against this opponent.
Schoolboys Nationals in Queensland (1st – 3rd October)
We will be traveling to QLD to take part in Australian Schoolboys Wrestling Championships 2010. Vladyslav will wrestle at 87kg and Harley will be in the 63kg. Please encourage both of the athletes when you see them at training.
Cadet, Junior & Senior State Championships (21st November)
We will be taking 4 wrestlers to the state championships. They are Vladyslav, Harley, Yussuf and Liam.
Last year we had only 1 wrestler participating at this event and so it’s great to see our club wrestlers who trained all year around to have now the opportunity to show what they have learned and apply it in the competition. Please encourage all the boys when you see them.

2011 FUTURE

Schoolboy’s state & national championships 2011

In 2011 any 2020 club wrestlers who have participated in wrestling training for the past 12 months will have the opportunity to represent our club at the state and national level.
The club requirements are that wrestlers who participate in 2 wrestling sessions per week every school term will wrestle at the state level only, and wrestlers who train 3 & 4 times per week every school term will wrestle at the state and national schoolboy level.
In the October and November of 2011 we should have 13 wrestlers representing 2020 Wrestling in the state and national wrestling championships. This will be huge achievement for our club and for the sport as over the past two years I have not seen any club that would bring 13 wrestlers to the tournament.
The more wrestlers we can have the more points can be accredited to our club to become a leading club not just in the state level but also on a nation level. Let’s create history!!!
