WELLDONE AWARDS
Plato, the ancient philosopher once said: You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation. Plato knew about physical activity and the demand it puts on any individual due to his wrestling experiences as a young individual. He is so right; an hour of play will challenge any individuals physical and mental abilities. And this has been so true for us all here at 2020 Wrestling.
The 4pm Tuesday wrestling crew (5-6year olds) know all about the hard work when they do the tiger wrestling, crocodile wrestling or Amazon wrestling that keeps them challenged while they are having fun.
The 4pm Friday crew(7-12 year olds) know all about the importance of using the duck under, and the arm drag when you need to get the tag from your opponent. They also understand that is so hard to pin the coach at the end of the wrestling session!
The 5pm wrestling crew (13-20 year olds) that trains 4 or 3 times per week they know about the hard work and the determination they need to get through the plyo session or strength session. They also know that the 2 minutes wrestling bouts with 30 seconds break that are repeated 4 times require undying stamina to get the job done are done with no talking.
As the coach that observes every individual that attends the wrestling sessions during the week I know that each wrestler has the ability to become the best he can be. Daily we quickly identify our limits and abilities that challenge us but in the same time under each existing challenge we always unite together as one team.
I have to say, that I am proud of the 2020 Wrestling Team. KEEP IT UP!

SPONSORSHIP NEWS
Getting sponsors or government grants for our wrestling program has been challenging and we are in a great need to raise more money. I have been in discussion with the Victoria Wrestling Association and the VIC Sport and Recreation about the possibilities for our club to facilitate the developing wrestling program in the Peninsula region and believe me they loved and supported the idea. But!!! in the end of the day the VIC Sport & Recreation are looking for free workers to run grassroots sporting activities for nothing. VICSR will be giving:
$ 7.500 to the VIC Wrestling Association for the whole sport. The truth is that as a wrestling club we will see nothing of this money. This is very challenging and frustrating part when I hear that government money has been given to develop grassroots level sports in Australia but wrestling gets so little to nothing.
And that is why I plead my case toseek our own sponsors for the 2020 Wrestling that will allow us to:
· Facilitate our program to the surrounding community kids (we are the only wrestling club around here after Moorabbin & Dandenong small wrestling clubs).
· Stay in our facility where we can train safely without worry and have our wrestling mats down and also not being restricted in meeting time deadlines for other sporting groups.
· Get necessary training equipment that will assist our athlete’s physical and technical wrestling development.
· Offer sponsorship to the children where parents are financially strained and are not able to have their kids attend any sporting activities outside of their local schools.
· Being the best developing wrestling club in VIC, and later in Australia.
I seek your support in many ways that will allow me to be the best coach and do the best for our athletes to become a leading sporting example for grassroots minor sports development. I like to say thank you to all the parents, guardians and the sponsors who have continually committed to support our wrestling program and club. THANK YOU!
